... über diesen Klassiker von Harper Lee noch die Rezension Nr. 645 zu schreiben, aber:Vor einiger Zeit haben mein Mann und ich uns noch einmal den Film "Wer die Nachtigall stört" angeschaut und - wie so häufig - wollten wir das Gesehene danach noch einmal in Ruhe als Buch genießen. Obwohl wir das Buch als Hardcover in unserer Bibliothek stehen haben, habe ich bei Amazon nachgesehen und musste feststellen, dass die Kindle-Fassung ausschließlich in der englischer Sprache vorliegt. Trotzdem - ich lese neben verschiedenen anderen Büchern immer eines in englischer Sprache - habe ich es gekauft, um festzustellen, dass der augenscheinliche Nachteil (das Buch nicht in meiner Muttersprache lesen zu können) im Nachhinein etwas sehr Positives war, denn - so meine Meinung - die Gedanken der Autorin erschließen sich dem Leser in der Original-Fassung viel intensiver, wenngleich man sich zunächst einmal in manche Dialoge, die versuchen den Südstaaten-Dialekt wider-zugeben, "hineinlesen" muss.Insgesamt ist der Sprachstil von Harper Lee aber für Leser, deren Muttersprache nicht Englische ist, sehr gut verständlich und für mich war das Buch "To kill a Mockingbird" in der Originalfassung ein großer Gewinn!Über die Handlung möchte ich mich an dieser Stelle nicht weiter auslassen, da ich denke, dass sie allen an Literatur Interessierten hinlänglich bekannt ist...Viele Anhänger von Harper Lee werden es wohl kaum nachvollziehen können, dass ihr Hauptwerk – „Wer die Nachtigall stört“, im Gegensatz zu dem erst vor kurzem veröffentlichten, umstrittenen zweiten Titel - nicht in Deutscher Sprache für den Kindle erhältlich ist.
Ich habe das Buch von der Schule aufgedrückt bekommen und war erst mal gar nicht begeistert jetzt noch ein Buch lesen zu müssen! Und das noch auf Englisch! Das Thema des Buches hatte mich auch nicht wirklich angesprochen und mich vor eine Herausforderung gestellt.Als ich mir das Buch endlich vorgenommen hatte, war ich zunächst überrascht wie verständlich das Englisch ist. Also habe ich dem Buch doch eine Chance gegeben... der Anfang und erst mal in das Buch rein zu kommen, war nicht leicht, aber im Laufe der Geschichte hat mich To kill a Mockingbird immer weiter gepackt und ich wollte es schon nicht mehr aus Hand legen. Vergessen war, dass dies nur eine Schullektüre war...! Das Buch fesselte mich und ließ mich die Geschichte nahezu miterleben... Ich bin wirklich begeistert und hätte niemals gedacht, dass sich meine Meinung um 180 Grad drehen könnte.To kill a Mockingbird ist zum Englisch lernen geeignet und regt inständig zum Nachdenken an!
I bought this book for school and i have to say it is one of my favorite books.It is about a Lawyer who is defending a black man in court during a time when black men were subjected as slaves an non citizen.The lawyer and single father of 3 children ultimately has to face the hatred an actions of his white fellow citizen for supporting the black community so strongly.
This novel tells the story of a small community in the Southern 1930's through the eyes of Jean Louise ''Scout'' Finch, a little tomboy, who likes to wear overalls instead of dresses, and who fights with everyone who calls her father a ''nigger-lover.'' Her father is a lawyer, appointed as the lawyer of a black young man, who is accused of having raped a white young woman. ''To Kill A Mockingbird'' contains a lot of dry humour. It was fun, cute and sad at the same time. One should not expect a story that goes deep into the trial of this black young man, if one could call it a ''trial'' actually. It's just an everyday story of a small gossiping ''white'' village. I liked it a lot!
To Kill a Mockingbird wurde vor einiger Zeit in unserer Schule als Lektüre angeschafft; die Geschichte kommt bei den Schülern sehr gut an, und ist hervorragend dazu geeignet, das Verhältnis zwischen den Weißen und den Afro-Amerikanern zu illustrieren, die Ungerechtigkeiten sowie dem Argwohn, den beide Gruppen gegenüber den anderen haben.
Kenne das Buch schon sehr lange und habe es mir jetzt wieder gekauft. Eine an sich ernste Geschichte, aber der stille Humor macht es doch erträglich. Die Geschichte wird aus dem Blickwinkel eines kleinen - sehr lebendigen - Mädchens erzählt.Wenn man die englische Sprache gut genug beherrscht sollte man es auch im englischen Original lesen, weil die wunderschöne Sprachmelodie durch die Übersetzung leider verlorengeht.
A book, written in another time and place and through the eyes of a child, and yet it gripped me from the first page to the last in the most special way. There are no words to describe a book like this, as all the right words are within the book itself - read it :)
....and although I expected something slightly different, I'm left now with only one, but most dearly regret :Never being a father like Atticus and never having a daughter like Scout.And with the quite difficult question of course, where to find a similar pleasant reading next.
